Carob is a dried fruit which, in Portugal, can only be found in the Algarve, and which properties are only know by a few. It is not as common as figs or almonds and during many years it was only used as cattle food. With sweet pulp, it is now used to make cookies, cakes, diuretic products, liqueurs, chocolates and ice cream.
Its seeds are used in the food, clothing, paper, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries among other and also to make bread and honey.
THE CAROB PACKAGE it is perfect to spend 7 memorable days. With accommodation included, you can join the carob harvest, which takes place between August and September, and is one of the main activities during the summer months in the Algarve’s countryside.
